紹介About this book
This is the tsuya (艶) edition: sensual in mood, non-explicit in content.
One hundred yōkai drawn from the intimate objects of Shōwa-era Japan (1926–1989) — a vanity mirror, a mosquito net, the rising steam of a bath-house — painted in a woodblock-print spirit and given a tsuya sheen: the particular gleam of wet things catching light that the dry hours of day never show.
At the center walks Suzune, a photographer with a small red bell at her throat, who records the procession plate by plate. At dawn, the parade returns what it kept through the night — the warmth, the scent, the lingering gaze — into her bell. The hundredth plate is that morning.
No nudity, no exposed private areas.
