「鈴音・百鬼夜行絵巻」シリーズ第三集『鈴音・令和百鬼夜行絵巻』。舞台は令和(2019- )。顔認証の枠、ひび割れたスマホの画面、配達アプリの地図上を動く点、QRコードの格子、失効していくポイント、既読の二文字――スマートフォンとともにある暮らしから生まれた百の妖怪を、古典の百鬼夜行というモチーフを借りて一図一体・全百図に描き切った、バイリンガルの創作アートブックです。妖怪はすべて本書のための新作で、実在の伝承や地名は引いていません。
図壱「顔鍵喰い」は、暗がりで顔認証が通らなかった夜、画面の奥であなたの顔をひとつ増やしていく者。図弐拾五「配達影」は、地図の上を動く点になる前の足音を、誰も知らない。図五拾「期限蟲」は、失効の夜、貯めた分だけ小さな灯りを消して回る。図七拾五「夜更け指」は、手はもう眠っているのに、指だけが下へ下へとスクロールを続けていく気配。図九拾「遠診面」は、画面越しの聴診器が、部屋の生活音の方をよく聴いている気配です。この時代の妖怪たちが手もとに置いているのは、あなたが日々差し出してきた「許可」と「視線」です。頷いた百の許可、開かれなかった通知――それらは夜のあいだ、妖怪たちに預けられています。図百「令和返し」で、百の眼と画面がいっせいに光を伏せ、許可を求めない鈴がひとつだけ鳴ります。
写真師・谷内鈴音が首の赤い鈴を鳴らして歩いた百枚の記録には、妖怪の名を記した手書き調の題字札を添えた一枚絵と、その対向ページに「由来・見分け・作法」の解説を日英バイリンガルで配しました。図鑑としても、令和という時代そのものの肖像としても読める一冊です。
図版・詞書・解説文まで完全バイリンガル。全100図はAI画像生成ツールを用いて制作し、作者本人が一点ごとに方向づけ・選定・レタッチ・品質管理を行いました。第一集『昭和百鬼夜行絵巻』・第二集『平成百鬼夜行絵巻』と合わせて読むと、三つの時代がひとつの行列としてつながります。
The third volume of the SUZUNE — Hyakki Yagyō series, set in Reiwa-era Japan (2019–present). The frame of a face-unlock screen, the spreading crack across a dropped phone, the moving dot on a delivery app's map, the lattice of a QR code, a point balance quietly expiring, the two characters that mean "read" — one hundred new yōkai born from life alongside the smartphone, painted in a woodblock-print spirit within the classical night-parade format. None are drawn from documented folklore; all are original creations made for this book.
Plate 1, The Face-Key Eater, grows one more of your faces inside the screen on every night the unlock fails in the dark. Plate 50, The Expiry Grub, goes around snuffing one small light for every point saved, on the night it all expires. Plate 75, The Small-Hours Finger, keeps scrolling down and down long after the hand it belongs to has fallen asleep. What these yōkai hold onto is everything you have quietly handed over: every permission you nodded through, every notification you never opened. Plate 100, The Return of Reiwa, shows a hundred eyes and screens lowering their light at once, as a single small bell rings without asking permission.
Each plate carries a hand-brushed title slip with the yōkai's name; facing it, a bilingual commentary in three parts — Origin, Signs, and Practice — reads as much like a field guide as an artwork: how the being was born, how to recognize it, and what to do next.
Fully bilingual in Japanese and English throughout. All one hundred plates were created using AI image-generation tools, individually directed, hand-selected, retouched, and quality-controlled by the artist. Read together with SUZUNE — Shōwa Hyakki Yagyō and SUZUNE — Heisei Hyakki Yagyō, all three eras join into a single parade.
